Greening Oregon: The State Energy Sector Partnership Training Project

PioneerArray sm

The Greening of Oregon's Workforce project develops local training networks in green occupations to support the state's long-standing energy sector strategy to guide economic growth.

Training is underway and prepares workers for occupations in energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. These occupations include those that have long-term demand; offer the potential for high wage; support local sourcing and innovation and are career pathway jobs.

The project was competitively awarded by the US Department of Labor in early 2010, and continues to make good strides in providing training for current and unemployed workers in a variety of fields. All training prepares workers for occupations that help save or reduce energy. This includes industries associated with renewable energy, green building practices, supply chain manufacturing, and advanced drive train and energy efficient vehicles. Occupations include those that have long-term demand; offer the potential for high wage; support local sourcing and innovation; and are career pathway jobs.

  • As of March 31, 2012, approximately 1,107 Oregonians were served by teams across the state - 1,090 of which have begun their education and training activities.
  • Of the 492 participants who have completed the program, 320 have been placed into unsubsidized employment.

If you are interested in becoming involved in the SESP program, or would like to participate in training activities, please read the FAQ below for local and state contact information.*
