A Career Pathways Roadmap is a visual tool for students, parents, advisers, counselors, and educators to learn about the jobs, skills, and education requirements for a specific career.

As additional education and training is completed, the progression of jobs and wages in a career is provided along with the courses, competencies and the skills, courses, certificates, degrees needed to be successful in the career. Using weblinks to navigate to labor market information and college registration, course, and financial aid, the webtool "connects the dots" to help users see the "big picture" for career planning.

Roadmaps also show "entry points" for high school students and returning adults through pre-college courses (ABE/GED/ESL) as well as "exit points" including articulation agreements with universities, apprenticeship programs, and employment. The roadmaps include eight common information elements and follow basic design principles.

A new feature as of April 2009 is the Career Pathways Roadmap Webtool---Plan of Study Templates (POST) that depict high school to community college plans of study coursework in Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs.

More than 200 roadmaps have been developed by Oregon community colleges using the Career Pathways Roadmap Webtool. As of July 1, 2009, Career Pathways roadmaps are also accessible through the Oregon Labor Market Information System (OLMIS) Occupational Information Center. Starting in May 2010 Career Pathways Roadmaps are accessible through www.MyPathCareers.com when you click on the explore Careers tab.

Oregon has also developed the Career Pathway Roadmap Webtool for schools, colleges, and other organizations to help those organizations develop Community College roadmaps and plans or study templates Career Pathways Roadmap Webtool If you don't have an account on the webtool, click on Guest Login.
